Trials of this life...

I am sure you have heard the Laura Story song "Blessings" and even if you haven't, I'll give you a little synopsis.

She wrote the song when her husband was getting a brain tumor removed. The chorus goes:
Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know you're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

I had this song sang at my wedding. People kept asking why play this sad song on your wedding day which, is supposed to be one of the happiest days. I wanted our wedding to be a depiction of who we are, not only through the decor but even down to the songs. I chose this one because it speaks to "real life". We all go through trials. We all endure pain. We are all going to experience the hardships of this world. But those are the times we grow the most. Those are the times we look into ourselves and reflect on who we are and who we want to be. Those are the times when we see God most. Marriage is not always pretty. It will have it's ups and downs, but those trials make us appreciate even more.

Lately, we have taken note of the sacredness in our union because of an unforeseen circumstance. We have held each other tighter, spent more quality time together, and soaked up the goodness that the other offers. We are learning that a lifetime is too short and too fragile. We are learning to love the life we have.

so true. its hard to remember that everything God does for us is because he loves us, and that he is always there for us.
